Business and Innovation Execs Fully Immerse - The Department’s Annual Report has been released, and the Executive remuneration note on P100 makes for interesting reading. DBI Execs awarded themselves even more in bonus payments in a year of budget cuts and 4200 jobs being slashed from the Public Service. In 2012, - 43 execs shared in $916,000 or about $21,000 each on average in bonuses well up on 2011 when 63 execs shared

Contractors on $1,900 an Hour
Public Transport Victoria is cutting a whopping 37% of its staff while the number of highly paid executives remains the same.
When it was formed in April, 34 of PTV’s 665 staff were Executive Officers earning between $182,000 and $240,000 each a year.
A new structure issued to staff shows at least 37% fewer employees – down to 450 – but exactly the same number of executives.

Tools of Trade Dispute Now at Magistrates Court
Arising out of another pre-determined review last year a number of CPSU members had their Tool of Trade vehicle taken away and the case is now in the Magistrates Court.
WorkSafe has stubbornly rejected all attempts to resolve the matter in a fair and reasonable manner.

Contract Staff Undermines a Career Public Service
CPSU is deeply concerned over the increased use of contract and labour-hire staff within the Department of Industry, Innovation and Regional Development (DIIRD), and across the Victorian public service as a whole.
It is evident that contract and labour hire personnel are being used inappropriately within DIIRD.
