SSA Review - Integrity & Anti Corruption Systems

Updated 22/04/2016

CPSU supports effective and efficient mechanisms to deal with allegations of corruption in the Victorian public sector recognising that corruption is corrosive of public institutions and public trust in those institutions. At the same time, CPSU believes that the mechanisms to deal with corruption must contain appropriate safeguards.

These safeguards are drawn from the principles of natural justice.

They have been formulated having regard to the potential adverse impact Ombudsman s investigations can have on persons whose conduct is the subject of complaint.

The terms of this submission are primarily directed at investigations conducted under the Whistleblowers Protection Act 2001 (Whistleblowers Act) but have equal force in respect of complaints made to the Ombudsman under the Ombudsman Act 1973.
