National Recognition Month - Training Opportunities
CPSU is offering all Education Support staff, including those who are not members, the opportunity to come together and attend a Trade Union Information & Training Course and Education Support staff that choose to attend may do so in paid time following agreement between our union and DEECD Human Resources.

These two hour courses will include the following:

  1. Knowledge of industrial entitlements. CPSU will discuss dispute resolution procedures as well as be available to answer general questions about the SSO Agreement. CPSU will also encourage participants to discuss their views of the current SSO Agreement and what they think could be improved.
  2. Contribute to a better understanding of industrial/employee relations and upgrading of skills in all aspects of trade union functions. CPSU will discuss with participants the importance of cooperative industrial relations and the role of the union in this process. This will include the role of union officers, union workplace representatives, and the importance of membership involvement in industrial relations.
  3. Occupational health and safety. CPSU will discuss with participants the objects of the OHS Act, the role of the Health and Safety Representative (HSR) and the role of the union in supporting HSRs.
  4. Safe work practices. CPSU will discuss with participants the importance of seeking and following advice from HSRs and CPSU.

CPSU - 125 in 2010
.

When 1,000 colonial public servants crammed into the Athenaeum Hall in Collins Street on 17 June 1885 to form the Victorian Public Service Association they had no idea that we d be still here and turning 125 this year.

TOGETHER WE DO BETTER!
