Photo Competition Winner Chosen: Peter Baker's "The Hard Slog"

Updated 22/04/2016

Peter Baker is the winner of our Photographic Competition. Peter submitted a photograph titled "The Hard Slog" which showed DSE staff building fire control lines.

The judging panel loved the balance and framing of the photograph which reminded us of classic Australian art from the Heidelberg School. Congratulations Peter, you've won an Apple iPad 2 valued at $839.

Thanks to everyone who has submitted a picture, we've really enjoyed getting them all.

Here is a selection of our favourite photos from the competition!

Deidre Downie sent us a photo of herself riding her horse at home. We loved this picture not only because Deidre's linked it to the industrial issue earlier this year where Sheriff's vehicles were removed (claiming this was her new mode of transport), but also because who could ever resist having a photo of a Sheriff riding a horse!

Mark Halden submitted a photo of NVIRP moderator Daniel Bourke posing in front of a flooded Campaspe River.

Doug Caulfield's shot of Emergency Management Training in Wonthaggi.

Rachel Shalder submitted this fantastic photo of fire training at Horsham.

One of our favourites, Joshua Hannaford submitted this beautiful shot of Fisheries Officer Joshua Hannaford conducting surveillance on the Werribee River.

Graeme Phyland submitted this photo of DPI researchers cuting, raking and stripping lucerne featuring (from left to right - Daryl, Stuart, Dave and Wendy)

Peter Baker submitted this fantastic shot, which he titled "Mud and Charcoal". The photo shows Rosco McJames, a DSE employee forging a path through a swamp at Wilsons Prom National Park.

Another great shot from Graeme Phyland, with the storm clouds gathering over the dairy research pastures and DPI staff sampling for yield and quality.
