Vic SES 24 Hour Stoppage
After 18 months of negotiations CPSU members have had enough.
SES employees are paid at least $30,000 less than their opposite numbers in the CFA and have far inferior conditions for Superannuation, rosters, shifts, leave and allowances.
Industrial action in the past four months has included a ban on all communications, training of volunteers, participating in meetings with other emergency services and a 24 hour stop work on may 23 at parliament House.
The July 20 stoppage will be held at SES headquarters - 168 Sturt St, Southbank from 9.00am.
The CEO has refused to become involved in negotiations so a resolution of no confidence will proceed against the CEO, the Executive and the Board.
“We’ve had instances of major incidents where the SES incident controller is being paid $45,000 less than the emergency staff they are supervising and this happens all the time, including working through 7 to 10 days without relief.
This is a simple issue of parity for our members they want to be treated the same as the rest of the emergency service sector.
Politicians love to have their picture taken with us to show how important they think we are – it’s about time they gave us the respect we deserve.”
Photo sessions with politicians have also been banned.
