Government Refuses to Talk

Updated 22/04/2016

ED SUPPORT NEWS ..... The State Government is still refusing to talk to ES unions about a decent wages agreement and maintains that ES staff ONLY deserve a 2.5% wage increase.  In response, ES unions are maintaining bans and will be increasing action in schools in Term 4.   This will include stop-work action.

  --------------------------------------------------------

FROM THURSDAY 11 OCTOBER 2012.

CPSU members can add the following bans:

 • Reporting VELS student achievement data to the Department.
   Exempted from this ban will be the processing and uploading of achievement data for senior students via the Victorian Assessment Software System (VASS);

 • Written comments or numerical data in student reports for each subject.
   Exempted from this ban will be reporting on VELS progression points, Satisfactory/Not Satisfactory information for VCE, VCAL and VET, and equivalent information for specialised settings.

FROM TUESDAY 16 OCTOBER 2012.

This action below will commence

 • bans on employing or arranging the employment of casual staff to replace CPSU members who are unavailable as a result of undertaking protected stop work action.

CURRENT PROTECTED ACTION BANS:

These actions above are in addition to;

 • the use of Ultranet
 • the implementation of National Curriculum
 • participating in staff or parent surveys administered by or on behalf of the DEECD
 • responding to emails emanating from your Department including from Regional Offices of the Department
 • Matters impacting the health and safety of members of the school community, including students, are excluded from this ban
 • stop work action in any school which is visited by a Member of Parliament (including a Minister) belonging to one of the Coalition parties.  The stoppage will coincide with the visit by the Member of Parliament and will
   extend for the duration of the visit or for one hour, whichever is the longer CPSU calls on the State Government to come back to the negotiating table and present ES staff with a decent wages offer.

For too long ES staff have been neglected by governments and it’s time they recognised the important work that ES staff do for Victoria’s public education system.
