Private Prison Deal Approved

Updated 24/01/2018

Fair Work has given the Port Phillip Prison (G4S Custodial Services) Agreement 2017 their approval which brings to an end a lengthy and protracted bargaining round that commenced all the way back in 2016.

CPSU's bargaining team and a representative from G4S attended a conference at Fair Work to respond to a number of questions raised by the Commissioner during the approval process.  The Commissioner was satisfied with the responses that were provided and will now approve the agreement.  The decision will be issued in the next couple of days and the agreement will come into effect seven days after that date.

G4S is finalising the arrangements for the payment of your back pay as the initial 3% pay increase in the new agreement is dated from 1st January 2017.  G4S have committed to getting it paid ASAP.

Further 3% increases fall due from 1st January 2018 and again in 2019.  The agreement runs through until 31st December 2019.

Thank you all for your patience during this final part of the process.

Special thanks to the members of the bargaining team – Tony Raphael, Robert Taylor and Renee Hopkins.
