PS Job Security Restored

Updated 03/05/2019
The Andrews government has delivered on its commitment to the state workforce with the passage of the Fair Work (Commonwealth Powers) Amendment Bill 2018 passing the Victorian Parliament.  The new laws restore the right for many Victorian public sector staff to bargain on a broader range of matters, including job security.  The new laws brings to an end the last anti worker deed from the Kennett government by resolving a legal restriction from the partial transfer of Victorian industrial relations to the Commonwealth back in 1997.  This meant enterprise bargaining agreements at some organisations were restricted in what they could cover, while others enjoyed broader rights.  All Victorian workers, whether public and privately employed are now equal again so CPSU remains at a loss then as to why the Liberal National opposition, Hinch and LibDems opposed this act of courtesy towards their workforce.
