HSR Refresher OHS Work-related violence Training Course - August 2026

About the Course

Under section 67 of the OHS Act 2004, all elected Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) and Deputy HSRs who have completed the HSR Initial OHS training course are entitled to attend a WorkSafe-approved HSR refresher OHS training course each year.

CPSU is approved by WorkSafe Victoria to deliver the HSR Refresher OHS Training – Work-Related Violence course.

CPSU training is tailored to employees working in the Victorian Public Sector, ensuring that case studies and activities are engaging and practical examples for HSRs and Deputy HSRs to implement in their workplaces.


Course Learning Objectives

The course provides HSRs and Deputy HSRs with the information and skills required to successfully carry out their role and powers under the OHS Act 2004.

Learning objectives include:

1. Understanding the risks associated with work-related violence

2. Identifying who has obligations and duties under the legislation

3. Participating in the identification, prevention and control of work-related violence risks

4. Representation, participation and consultation in the workplace and issue resolution

Although HSRs are the primary audience, this course may also be suitable for managers, supervisors, health and safety committee members, and others looking to broaden their knowledge of work-related violence.

Time: 8.45am – 4.35pm

Location: Exhibition Street, Melbourne


Entitlements and Fees

Under section 67 of the OHS Act 2004, HSRs and Deputy HSRs are entitled to:

  • Choose the approved training provider of their choice, in consultation with their employer
  • Paid time off work to attend the course
  • Course costs are covered by the employer. 

Payment must be received prior to commencement (except for waitlisted participants). An invoice will be sent to the nominated biller.

  • A certificate of attendance upon full completion
  • All course materials provided
  • Lunch on the day
