Water Rap - Industry Organising Project

Industry Organising Project

CPSU has traditional coverage of the rural water industry including the rural water entities - Goulburn Murray Water - Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water - Lower Murray Water (former Sunraysia Water) and - Southern Rural Water and the new Northern Victoria Irrigation Renewal Project.

As the new federal Government has indicated that the administration of the water industry is a major priority for the nation s future, CPSU needs to ensure that we are able to meet any national policy issues and the consequential industrial issues that may arise.

CPSU SPSF Victorian Branch is therefore seeking expressions of interest from members employed in the water industry to be seconded to the union for an initial period of 6 months to undertake an organising project for the union across the state.

Whilst the position will be nominally located at the Melbourne office, the successful applicant will be required to travel across the state and visit all worksites of the above 4 water authorities, recruiting members, developing delegate structures, conducting training etc.

The position will also be required to liaise with the union s federal office and other state branches in order to develop a national union water industry advisory group. The position will be located in the union s Member Development Team and will report to Robert Laird who is the Team Leader.

Members interested in discussing the project should contact Robert on rlaird@cpsuvic.org and a position description, project brief and terms and conditions of employment are available from gmostowska@cpsuvic.org.

Applications for the position should be forwarded to gmostowska@cpsuvic.org marked to the attention of the Branch Secretary by close of business 30th April 2008.

CPSU MEMBERSHIP IS PROTECTION FOR YOUR MOST IMPORTANT ASSET. YOUR JOB.

Speak to a colleague today about the benefits of CPSU membership and have them contribute to our successes rather than just enjoying the benefits.
