EDNEWS: KODE School Closure Announcement

KODE School Closure Announcement

CPSU has been advised by DEECD that Victorian KODE schools will be closing. This is Not good enough and the union has immediately sought an urgent meeting with Senior Management, CPSU s Senior Industrial Staff and CPSU Indigenous member representatives, to find out what is actually proposed.

In the absence of proper, comprehensive information and a proposal about this change; it s difficult to understand, let alone explain DEECD's justifications.

CPSU will be demanding DEECD's compliance with our members rights around any Proposed Implementation of Change.

These rights are described in both our SSO and VPS Industrial Agreements, negotiated by CPSU and hard fought for by our members.

CPSU Industrial Organiser Geraldine Hughes, CPSU Indigenous Branch Section member representative Judy Thorne and CPSU Industrial Officer supporting our Indigenous Branch Section Mandy Coulson, will be meeting with DEECD management this week to discuss the implications for SSOs, Koorie Educators and Public Service staff in the wake of this announcement.

CPSU will be seeking answers as to why a proper process has not been followed, and demanding an agreed process for considering any potential implementation of change, involving members and the union, including the right to put forward alternatives. CPSU ‚Äö?Ñ?¨ your union, your voice - working together for you

CPSU wants to hear your views and feedback, based on what you know so far, including questions, suggestions and concerns. Email us now at: ghughes@cpsuvic.org , mcoulson@cpsuvic.org or enquiry@cpsuvic.org or you can call CPSU on 03 9639 1822 and ask to be put through to an officer.

This announcement puts paid to the rumours that have been circulating for the past few months. To get the best outcome in a difficult situation, our team will be demanding a comprehensive proposal, and insisting on a consultative process with CPSU members' input for any proposed changes.

When further information from DEECD is available a bulletin will appear for all CPSU members, with a link to that information, and a report back on progress so far.

CPSU urges members to be active in this process and in your futures - get in touch with CPSU, Your Union, with your concerns and suggestions, so your voices can be heard, and solutions can be found.

Know someone who is not a member yet? Whilst everyone benefits in some way from the positive work that CPSU members do, the Union can only represent our members and their issues.

Don t miss out on the power of collective representation, and individual protection.
