Safety News - Automated Number Plate Recognition System
CPSU has received correspondence from the Deputy Sheriff, advising that the OHS unit in the Department of Justice was looking at the issues CPSU previously raised regarding the proposed introduction of the ANPR (Automated Number Plate Recognition System).

The Deputy Sheriff confirmed the ANPR equipment is on hold until further notice and indicated that there would be an Operational Instruction issued regarding lap tops and how they should be used.
To date the Operational Instruction has not been given therefore a PIN notice (Provisional Improvement Notice) has been formally provided to management by one of your colleagues, an elected OHS representative.
The Department has 8 days from the date of the PIN being issued to advise Sheriffs how they intend to resolve this issue. I will let you know how those discussions, or any resolutions, to this matter unfold.
DoJ have agreed to the formation of a separate committee just for Sheriffs issues. Particularly where there are common issues across the regions. This committee, the Steering Committee, will deal with the existing issues identified.
A tentative date has been scheduled for the Sheriffs Regional and Programs OHS Steering Committee. It is proposed we meet on the 15th of September between 10-1PM.
To get the Steering Committee up and running 4 Sheriffs OHS Representatives would be required to participate. Two reps have already expressed an interest in participating on the committee. It would be great to have 2 more elected OHS reps from other regions/country.
Your reps have been doing a fantastic job. You must ensure they get your full support.
If you wish to participate in the committee please urgently contact Julie McKeown so your release from work can be negotiated with your employer. Julie can be reached at jmckeown@cpsuvic.org or you can call 9639-1822.
Please distribute this bulletin and ask your colleagues to join CPSU to have their voice heard and their views represented.

CPSU - 125 in 2010.
When 1,000 colonial public servants crammed into the Athenaeum Hall in Collins Street on 17 June 1885 to form the Victorian Public Service Association they had no idea that we d be still here and turning 125 this year.
TOGETHER WE DO BETTER!
