EdNews - August is National Recognition Month

Updated 22/04/2016

Education Support Staff - Equal Partners in Education
CPSU launched its National Recognition program for Education Support staff back in 2001 in order to celebrate the contribution of non-teaching staff in public schools across the country.

For the first time union members are celebrating over the whole month of August this year.

Education Support Staff work in a multitude of occupations in primary, secondary and special development schools, and are a crucial part of our education system. Schools-Recognition-Kit Schools-Recognition-Poster

Education Support Staff manage school libraries, laboratories and kitchens, assist students with special needs both inside and outside the classroom, are accredited First Aid Officers, run out of school care programs, canteens, manage enrolments, administer school budgets and make sure our teachers get paid.

The theme for this year is Equal Partners in Education .

Education Support Staff work daily with teachers, principals and colleagues to ensure a state education system of the highest quality is delivered to students and the community.

This partnership needs to be recognised and celebrated.

A campaign kit, including ideas for events and activities, information about CPSU regional courses, industrial news, and a Schools Recognition Poster is available via the links above.

This year is our 125th Anniversary and to join in our celebration we are running a LUCKY NUMBER draw and we ll be giving away 10 Family Village Movie packs, consisting of 2 Adults and 3 children. (if there is no Village Cinema in your area we will purchase the same value from your nominated cinema).

You are automatically in the draw with your Lucky number being attached to the top of this letter.

Keep this letter handy and in the final week of National Recognition Week (25th August 2010) we will draw the lucky winners. Good luck and join in the fun.

Let us know what your school is doing to celebrate CPSU National Recognition Month so I can publicise local activities from across the state.

Let us know by email to nchurch@cpsuvic.org .

Education Support Staff are Equal Partners in Education, and that s worth celebrating – so have fun!

Yours sincerely
