Baillieu Blinks & Rushes to Fair Work
but ONLY on items the Government want sorted - such good faith?
The Union's VBC (Victorian Branch Council) met last Monday and was told that the Baillieu Government has rejected all our monetary based claims. (salary, super, structure, leave, hours, etc.)
VBC was told that the Baillieu Government has rejected all our ‘productivity’ suggestions. (staff turnover, vacancies, & improved workplace culture)
VBC authorised continuing the talks with the Baillieu Government on their items demanding these be quantified in dollars. The Baillieu Government was so far refusing and this was frustrating the bargaining progress.
VBC directed the State Secretary to commence seeking protected action ballot orders across each of our occupational groups if this is not done within 14 days.
VBC described the Baillieu Government approach to bargaining as ‘snailmate’ more than ‘stalemate’ with Departments / Agencies mostly stalling on their responses to our agency claims.
One PS Agency is still to table it’s Employer claims despite our Agreement ending almost 4 weeks ago. Guess Who?
VBC believed this stalling was more deliberate considering Treasury’s central control of the bargaining and authorised applications to be made to Fair Work to expose this.
Our Occupational Groups include;
• Corrections (Community & Prisons), Courts, Gaming, Sheriffs in Justice.
• Environmental and Fire Protection in DSE and in EPA.
• Child Protection, Disability, Housing, Youth Justice in Human Services and Health.
• Fisheries in Primary Industries.
• Planning, Heritage, Tourism, Transport, Employment in Central Agencies
• Crime, Forensic, Fingerprints and OPI in Police.
• School Student Services Support in Education.
VBC also authorised expenditure from our campaign chest to promote the services delivered by these occupations in electronic campaigning.
The State Government applied to Fair Work Australia to have their matters dealt with by conciliation.
CPSU will join the Government's application with an application of our own - CPSU has sacred cows too.
Fair Work has allocated Commissioner Greg Smith to assist.
Commissioner Smith has called the parties together for Friday afternoon (5/8) and has set aside next Tuesday (9/8), Wednesday (10/8) and Thursday (11/8) afternoons also.
