Fair Work Orders Govt to Hand Over Documents
As part of the discovery process arising from our Public Service Wages Arbitration which will commence hearings on 18 June, Fair Work has issued an order for the Government to produce by 10AM on Tuesday 5 June;

‘Documents that for each of the 11 Departments: (a) show EFT or headcount or positions (whichever applies) that the State of Victoria intends to reduce the workforce of each Department by to achieve the workforce reductions (b) show by Department where the Employer intends to make the workforce reductions and how it intends to implement them (c) show by Department the employee categories exempt from the workforce reductions and the number of EFT employees in each exempt category, including as a proportion of each Department’s VPS workforce.’

DEPT’s KNOW JOB CUTS DETAIL – GOV’T EVIDENCE

Under CPSU cross examination during the discovery hearing (PN194 onwards) last week a Govt witness disclosed that Departments were advised shortly after the mid year budget update back in December what their contribution to the job cut nos were to be.

This sworn evidence seems at odds with statements at Parliament’s Public Accounts and Estimates hearings and the lack of detail, almost six months later, about the extent of individual Departmental job losses and re-assurance about whose job is secure.

Fixed term staff have their contracts not renewed and encouraged to re-engage through labour hire, a recruitment freeze has been in place since Budget 2011, yet Departments still hide details about which programs are ending, which offices will remain open, who is going to do the work, and what the future for public service delivery is to be.

SGI JOB CUTS SURVEY – TELL US WHAT YOU KNOW

CPSU has written to the Departmental heads for further information repeatedly and the 4,200 job cuts is a subject of an ongoing dispute lodged with Fair Work Australia.

The various responses the union has received from Departments have not contained much information.

CPSU therefore asks that all our members provide as much detail as possible about changes in your workplaces that will result in the shedding of jobs.

CPSU values your input and wants our members to tell us where the impacts of SGI are being felt.

The information you provide will be treated as confidential.

4,200 JOBS GO – PREMIER EATS CAKE

The Premier’s Dept has signed a catering contract worth almost a million dollars while massive cuts and job losses in the public sector are underway.

The meals are worth $900,000 over four years, or $1000 of food and drink for every working day.

The contract tender called for: Silver service, Cloaking services, Hot Buffets, Cocktail platters, and Vegan and vegetarian options.

Channel 7 had the story.
