Labor Win about Putting People First

Updated 22/04/2016

Daniel Andrews and Labor have claimed a stunning election victory ousting Denis Napthine's coalition government after only one term.  Labor looks likely to win 48 seats and form Government in their own right.  With counting continuing the most likely make-up of the Legislative Assembly is Labor 48 seats, Liberals 31, Nationals 7, Greens 1 with an Independent taking the former safe seat of Shepparton off the Nationals.  CPSU Victorian Secretary Karen Batt said she was very excited about the next four years. Victorians clearly value their services.  It's just not all about surpluses and this judgement error had cost the Coalition dearly after savage cuts to public services under Ted Baillieu and then Denis Napthine Governments. The Coalition had forgotten they were also an Employer and the public sector workforce shifted their vote on Saturday after previously supporting Baillieu on promises about fixing services and protecting public service jobs in 2010. Counting in the Legislative Council continues also.
