2020 & Beyond for Job Hubs

Updated 23/05/2017

Included in the State Budget was money over the forward estimates for the development of Regional VicGov Job Hubs.

These hubs will be multi agency consisting of existing staff while the Government increases spending on new job opportunities.

These hubs will be located in Ballarat and the Latrobe Valley but no detail is available yet on the specifice location in LV.

The Government has stated it intends to make a similar investment in Bendigo into the future.

The buildings have not yet been identified let alone the exact town in the Latrobe Valley, or built, as is the case in Ballarat.

What we do know is that a number of positions and functions will be undertaken in the future at the Ballarat and Latrobe Valley Hubs.

There will be no forced relocations or redundancies and that any assistance package will need to match the recent agreement reached between CPSU and WorkSafe (Geelong).

This agreement improves on the EBA provisions.

The support includes housing assistance, assistance with school, moving, to name just a few.

There will be a real choice with a clear level of support for the employee considering their options by providing a suite of assistance for their whole family, not just the previous raw approach of go or be redundant.

The Government investment in these regional locations will be attractive to those seeking promotional opportunities and life outside the city.
