Early Childhood Development - Machinery of Government Transfer to Education

Updated 22/04/2016

Since the Premier announced the transfer of early childhood services to Education prior to the cabinet reshuffle, CPSU has been seeking clarification of the changes proposed that affect our members in DHS.

CPSU Branch Councillor Mary Sullivan and Industrial Organiser, Robert Laird met with the Office of Children late last week.

The DHS Secretary has made clear that the move would affect all Early Years and Statewide Outcomes for Children staff in head office.

The arrangements for regional office staff have not been finalised.

CPSU are seeking representation on the committee considering implementation issues.

CPSU raised a number of issues with DHS officers and it was clear that some of the practical details would need to be ironed out by the Department of Education as the receiving Department under the machinery changes.

CPSU has sought urgent talks as reporting arrangements nominally commence on 27 August 2007.

CPSU understands that DHS are preparing a handy guide to respond to Frequently Asked Questions.

In the meantime if you have any issues please contact CPSU's Industrial Organiser Robert Laird on 9639 1822
