DOPI Raises Privacy Worry

Updated 02/10/2017

The Agriculture Department has asked all authorised officers to declare information such as real estate interests and shareholdings and CPSU has raised privacy concerns with the recent request for Fisheries Officers to declare personal financial interests as part of a revised DOPI.

CPSU has asked the Department what power they rely on to require such disclosure of personal information.

Not only do they want you to declare the information, they require that you share this information with your direct line manager for sign-off.

To date the union are yet to hear back from the Department.

In the meantime CPSU advises members not to complete the form until this matter is resolved. CPSU understands that the Victorian Fisheries Authority (VFA) will develop their own DOPI policy going forward.

We hope that VFA management will consult with the union to determine the best way to implement any DOPI policies going forward.
