Updated 17/04/2018
The new Agreement contains salary increases of 3.25% per annum, a $1,200 sign on payment, and will operate from 12th April 2018 with a nominal expiry date of 31st March 2021.
Fair Work has approved the Victorian Institute of Teaching Enterprise Agreement 2016.
The Agreement contains salary increases of 3.25% per annum as well as the following:
- Sign on bonus of $1200. This will be paid to eligible employees, along with applicable back pay (for the period 31 March 2017 – 31 March 2018) in an off cycle payment by VIT scheduled for Monday 16 April.
- A service delivery partnership plan that commits parties to the Agreement to working collaboratively to improve VITs service delivery to stakeholders. Matters that members will have the opportunity to collaborate on include:work organisation, job design and work patterns, training and skill development, technology and resources (including the continued implantation of TERI); and occupational health and safety initiatives
- Secure employment clause which places restrictions on the use of fixed-term contracts and casual employment, with ongoing forms of employment being the preference for VIT where possible
- Changes to the Annual Leave provisions to ensure that approval of annual leave will not be unreasonably withheld, as well as introduction of a mechanism to manage excessive accrual of annual leave
- Strengthening of the OH&S clause to reflect VITs obligation to:
- identify and manage work and work practices which impact on staff health and safety; and
- consider the impact of changes to work practices and staffing on occupational health and safety
- Change to the workload clause which provides a stronger mechanism for staff to request review of unreasonable workloads
- Christmas closedown clause which introduces a mechanism for VIT to closedown part, or all of its operations over the Christmas period
- Family violence leave provisions which allow for up to 20 days paid leave and additional protections for any employee experiencing family violence
