SSO WORKPLACE AGREEMENT UPDATE 1/2008

SSO Agreement Negotiations Commence – Finally!  as CPSU reiterates that School Support Staff should NOT be disadvantaged by Government Delays!

SSO Agreement negotiations are finally off and running.

CPSU submitted its list of claims to DEECD last year, but it has taken until now for DEECD to receive approval from the State Government to commence negotiations.  CPSU made it clear that SSOs should not be disadvantaged by government delays!

The parties commenced discussions on the SSO Classification Structure.

CPSU reiterated its position that there should be minimum classifications for employment categories, including;

•    Business Managers and Technicians, and
•    Work value is higher for certain Integration Aides’ than SSO1 SR1 and should be classified accordingly.

DEECD suggested that it may be appropriate to align the SSO classification structure with the teachers’ classification structure as there is significant movement between the two workforces.  The Department has undertaken to table a position on structure at our next meeting for consideration.
