Urgent DPI Restructure Update

Now is make-or-break time for those members still considering the submission of an alternative proposal to DPI's plan to close 10 regional sites which will forcibly retrench key staff or require them to relocate their families and decimate the local communities being targeted. Any alternative put forward by members must address the rationale and intended benefits of the proposed restructure.

Members who still require further information from the Department in order to construct an alternative proposal of substance should contact CPSU Industrial Organiser Yana Canteloupe by e-mail to ycanteloupe@cpsuvic.org this week to confirm their intentions.

If members do not suggest otherwise it will be assumed that affected staff are prepared to proceed with the proposed change as set out by the Department.

The Department has contacted CPSU with the aim of implementing the proposed changes this week.

CPSU has reiterated that where members are preparing alternative proposals, the original timeframes of six to eight weeks still applies.

Where members are preparing alternative proposals, any attempt by the Department to implement change will be considered a breach of our Victorian Public Service Agreement.

CPSU continues to discuss options with the Department for those members who do not wish to pursue an alternative proposal.

At present, CPSU is waiting for the Department s comment on these options.
