Government Inquiry - OPP & DPP

The Attorney-General has announced an inquiry into the recent media reports surrounding the operation of the OPP and DPP.

 



He has appointed former Justice Frank Vincent to undertake this inquiry.

The inquiry will be concluded within 8 weeks.

Any staff member who wishes to make a submission to the inquiry is advised of the following:

i. All contact to the inquiry can be made via a secure email address vincentinquiry@vu.edu.au

ii. All contact with Mr Vincent and his Associate Mr Leach are completely confidential. No list of names of people who either agree to participate or decline to participate will be made available to anyone other than Mr Vincent and Mr Leach.

iii. All meetings with Mr Vincent will be conducted at Sir Zelman Cowen Centre, Faculty of Business and Law, Victoria University, 295 Queen St Melbourne.

iv. Meetings with Mr Vincent, with your consent, will be taped.

v. You will be asked if you are prepared to have anything you have said made public before it is. If you agree, a separate statement dealing with the matter you have agreed to be made public will be completed.

vi. You are free to decline an invitation to meet with Mr Vincent. No subpoena powers have been asked for or provided.

vii. Focus of the inquiry is both the recent media reports and the overall structure of the operational side of the office at the senior level not the general staff/solicitors level.

A meeting of all Community and Public Sector Union members and those interested in joining will be held on Tuesday 25th January at 4pm.
