Agreement to Deliver 8% in 18 months plus Sign On Cash
CPSU & Zoos Victoria have reached agreement on all matters regarding the new Zoos Victoria Salaried Staff Agreement with the proposed new Agreement at ballot from Friday 5th March.
The new Agreement represents a significant improvement in terms and conditions of employment for ZV staff, and CPSU strongly encourages all members to vote 'Yes'.
CPSU Organiser Matthew Price will be holding members' meetings at all three sites next week to discuss the new Agreement, and answer any questions that members might have.
Melbourne Zoo - 12 noon, Monday 1st March
WORZ - 4pm, Tuesday 2nd March
Healesville Sanctuary - 3pm, Thursday 4th March
The agreement will be short agreement, expiring in mid 2011, and featuring salary increases of;
- 3% on 1/12/09,
- 2.5% on 1/7/10
- 2.5% on 1/1/11.
This is a total of 8% over approximately 18 months.
And because ZV staff have had to wait so long for a salary increase, management have agreed to pay the following sign on bonuses:
Classification Band - Bonus (full-time rate)
7 $700
6 $600
5 $500
4 and below $400
Casuals - $400 pro-rata
Other significant changes include:
? Revised performance pay system, which is clearer and more accessible, and removes reference to ZV s
revenue targets
? Performance bonus amounts to be negotiated annually with the Union
? Clear progression criteria, whereby an employee can progress through the salary structure
? Extension of the spread of hours from 5:30 – 6pm, but providing employees have the right to refuse
to work beyond 5:30
? Retention of Higher Duties arrangements, whereby all employees performing Higher Duties are entitled to 100% of the appropriate payment (ZV sought to reduce this entitlement)
Once the ballot and certification process is complete, salary increases and the sign on bonus will be made retrospectively, effective as at 4/11/2009.

CPSU - 125 in 2010.
When 1,000 colonial public servants crammed into the Athenaeum Hall in Collins Street on 17 June 1885 to form the Victorian Public Service Association they had no idea that we d be still here and turning 125 this year.
