VicSES: Adequate Resources Needed

Updated 22/04/2016

Emergency Services Staff Demand Sustainable Workloads
CPSU and our VICSES Workplace Reps have endeavoured to negotiate the provision of additional staff over the years to support members in the field of Emergency Management however the recent floods have highlighted once again how poorly resourced the organisation is with staff having to work extraordinary hours without breaks to keep the work flowing.

Employees worked 10 days straight and whilst VICSES staff’s response was both efficient and well co-ordinated, it is clear that the Organisation is at breaking point and cannot operate safely without a huge injection of resources.

It is time for all staff as well as CPSU members to say this cannot continue.

The Authority has traded on the good will of its staff for too long and the present structure of VICSES is clearly unsustainable.

CPSU continues to highlight members resourcing issues and the under classification of its staff.

-- CPSU MEMBERS MEETING - TUESDAY 5 OCTOBER 2010 --

CPSU is calling for a state wide meeting of its members on Tuesday 5th October to be held off site in the Southbank precinct.

Venue to be confirmed.

CPSU/VICSES Branch Section members have briefed the union and we will also be writing to the VICSES Board of Directors with our concerns.

CPSU asks that you make you make your self available to attend this important meeting to fight for a sustainable workplace with adequate resources.  CPSU will provide you with the venue details shortly after confirming location.

CPSU has advised VICSES that the recent decision to advertise interstate for a 10 month assignment at a senior level is gratuitously offensive and is in clear beach of the Public Administration Act 2004.

CPSU is seeking urgent talks with VICSES management to resolve this second matter ASAP.

Please contact CPSU Team Leader Emily Castle by e-mail at ecastle@cpsuvic.org or call the office on 9639-1822 or toll free on 1800 810 153 for further information..

Please distribute this bulletin and ask your colleagues to join CPSU to have their voice heard and their views represented.

Our 7 day a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year industrial protection ensures you have the principal public sector organisation looking after your working rights, winning wage increases, protecting your conditions, and providing personal industrial assistance when you need it.

CPSU - 125 in 2010.

When 1,000 colonial public servants crammed into the Athenaeum Hall in Collins Street on 17 June 1885 to form the Victorian Public Service Association they had no idea that we would be still here and turning 125 this year.

TOGETHER WE DO BETTER!
