3,600 Public Service Jobs Redundant.

Updated 22/04/2016

CPSU State Secretary Karen Batt said the Government's job redundancy announcement today was a major betrayal.

The sort of Christmas present that has you racing to exchange on boxing day.

The Government's key election commitments were to fix basic services and protect PS jobs.

You can't remove this number of employees without impacting on services.

Every employee contributes to the delivery of services.  There are no second class employees.

Every support person removed means front liners spend more time out the back.

The announcement makes no sense while the Vertigan Inquiry is still to report.

The work just won't magically disappear so the Government must be preparing the ground for privatisation.

Victoria has grown 20% in the last decade but the Service is 1/3 less in size than it was 20 years ago.

The Baillieu Government is punishing their workforce while failing to reign in bonuses paid to executives or the waste on labour hire and contractors.

The impact on services will curtail this Governments tenure just like it did to Jeff Kennett.
