SSO Workplace Agreement 2008 - Update 2/2008
DEECD Provide its Bargaining Position – Book Your School Update Now
Book Your School Update for Term 2 NOW.
DEECD representatives have now provided their negotiating position including; a desire to move to a common SSO progression date, as well as a desire to alter the classification structure to enable SSO1’s greater progression opportunities. CPSU is currently working through this document.
Neither of these suggestions is risk free and would not be agreed to unless there is an overwhelming benefit to SSO’s overall.
CPSU’s SSO Agreement negotiators, Team Leader Nicky Kepert, Industrial Organiser Geraldine Hughes and SSO Pauline Zealley have attended three negotiating meetings to date.
DEECD is yet to respond formally to our list of claims but has made it already clear that there will be no additional funding for SSOs apart from salary increases.
CPSU believes that genuine bargaining relies on the negotiating parties being flexible and not adopting fixed bargaining positions particularly this early in the discussions. It’s appalling to think that the Department would give no recognition to the obvious, that schools require more funding.
