School News: National Recognition Week
SSO National Recognition Week
ALL our Schools across Victoria this week are celebrating the contribution and achievements made to their communities by School Services Officers.
SCHOOL SUPPORT STAFF: ‚Äö?Ñ??WORTH OUR WEIGHT IN GOLD
2008 marks the 8th National Recognition Week for School Support Staff sponsored by the Community and Public Sector Union and it is terrific to see this annual event, organised by the Union to celebrate our work and to raise the profile of School Support Staff in your local communities, grow in popularity each year.
CPSU introduced SSO National Recognition Week to celebrate Schools' Services Officers' work, and to gain recognition and respect for a diverse group of employees who had all too often been overlooked, overworked and undervalued.
CPSU continues to strive for recognition of the valuable role SSOs play in schools to strengthen SSOs position in their communities, and to gain real outcomes for them in bargaining for better pay and conditions.
The union sincerely hopes that each school takes this opportunity show their School Services Officers how much they are a respected, valued group in their school community.

Our union has sent National Recognition Week Kits to thousands of schools across Victoria.
If you haven't received one, please contact us by emailing enquiry@cpsuvic.org.
CPSU would also like to know how your school recognised its Schools Services Officers this year.
Email CPSU s Schools Industrial Organiser Geraldine Hughes at ghughes@cpsuvic.org and she will be happy to accept any feedback about the celebrations that were held at your school.
You can email your photos too! The union would also like to know if there was no recognition.
TOGETHER WE DO BETTER!
